Student Teaching: Traditional and PDS
Student Teachers and will be allowed in District 87 buildings after all paperwork has been completed, and their file has received clearance from their background checks. There are two documents you must read and complete:
- Special education Field-Based students and all PDS interns are classified as student teachers and must also complete these requirements.
- Go to the District 87 webpage and click on the "Student Teacher Classification and Information Sheet." This has a link to the required background check through Bushue Background Screening. You will need to make an appointment with Bushue for fingerprinting, and you must pay the fee ($56 in August 2022).
- Click on the "Student Teacher Information Form" and complete that online.
Student Teaching: Traditional and PDS
Student Teachers must complete all requirements and be cleared by Unit 5 before they can begin their student teaching experience:
- Print and complete the Student Teacher Packet on the Unit 5 Human Resources website.
- Submit the entire packet to Unit 5 following their instructions and include:
- Payment for background check made out to Unit 5 ($52 in August 2022)
- TB test results
- Self-addressed stamped envelope if you wish to receive a copy of your background check report
- A copy of the district TB can be used to meet ISU's Gateway 1 TB requirement. Go to our webpage for instructions on how to submit your results to the TEC.

How to obtain a copy of the CBC you complete for CPS
- Request a copy of the CPS-CBC by emailing Student Teaching CPS.
- Receive a copy of the CPS-CBC:
- Pick up at CPS Talent Office: 125 S. Clark St - floor 2 (fastest). Must have ID
- Receive by U.S. mail: include a scan of your DL with step #1 email. CBC mailed to CPS profile address
Note that the CPS TB can be used to meet the ISU Gateway 1 TB requirement. Go to our webpage for instructions on how to submit your results to the TEC.
